Kerry Guinan’s ‘The Red Thread’ at the Complex Gallery is a performance installation produced with international collaborators. The installation uses several sewing machines operated remotely and in real time by workers in an Indian clothing factory. The performance offers a live connection between people at the opposite ends of the supply chain, focusing attention on labour conditions in the garment industry. The installation is staged live over six days, running from 8am to 1:30pm.
