German-born Gertrude Degenhardt first visited Ireland in the early 1970s, when she was commissioned to prepare illustrations for a German edition of short stories by Liam O’Flaherty. Captivated by the West of Ireland landscape, Degenhardt has maintained her connection with Ireland, capturing the coastline from Spiddal to Doolin in spontaneous dry-point etchings. This exhibition at the Kenny Gallery features a new series of paintings and graphics and revisits the artist’s 1989 exhibition at the same venue.
