Alan Raggett’s exhibition ‘Be Good if You Can’ at the Grilse Gallery, Killorglin is a series of works in oil paint, oil bar and oil pastel, inspired by holiday postcards sent from hotels around Kerry in the 1890s and throughout the 20th century. The cards connected Raggett, who had moved to Kenmare, to the area’s history, and became a starting point for his own representation of the landscape.
