Caoimhe McGuckin’s ‘Fathom’ at the Riverbank Arts Centre constructs a personal system of measurement to create a visible representation of a sense of order. Exploring the origins and evolution of units of measure, and using a diverse range of modified domestic objects, the installation addresses our need for certainty – the desire to remove chaos from our lives and to find structure in any form.
