‘Overblown: Flowers in Contemporary Art’ at the Solstice Arts Centre comprises the work of eight artists exploring the temporality and aesthetics of flowers, the genre of still-life and flower painting in the history of art, its associated cultural narratives and works inspired by nature. ‘Overblown’ features paintings, prints and sculpture by Michael Canning, Mairead O’hEocha, Kathy Prendergast, Michael Landy and Marcel Vidal; photographs and film by Ori Gersht; an installation by Anya Gallaccio; and photographs by Alan Phelan.
