Hamilton Gallery, Castle Street exhibits recent works by gallery artist, Alan Ardiff, and invited guest, Seamus Gill. Ardiff’s large-scale bronze works act as vehicles for self-expression, depicting the artist’s on-going interrogation into aspects of what he describes as ‘the bigger picture’. His smaller works focus on individual dilemmas, yet retain a sense of humour. Seamus Gill’s sculptural work focuses on the art of silversmithing in bronze. Cutting each piece from a flat sheet of bronze, Gill manipulates them with a hammer, working with the natural characteristics of the bronze. His three-dimensional sculptures are finally patinated with soft muted colours.
