‘Apocalypse Anxieties’ at the Luan Gallery in Athlone is curated by Kerry Guinan and features works by Aideen Barry, Léann Herlihy, Frank Sweeney, Tom O’Dea and Guinan herself. The artists respond to an aspect of the town’s history during the Cold War, when a bunker was installed under Custume Barracks. The exhibiting artists have taken this as a reference point to explore themes of disaster, survival and fear.
